CHECOTAH — January 5, 2017 — Next year looks really good for the town of Checotah with new infrastructure, new playground equipment, a splash pad and a kid’s BMX bike trail.

The city will receive their first splash pad that will be located at the soccer complex, courtesy of Carrie Underwood’s CATS (Chectoah, Animal, Town and School) Foundation at a cost of $35,000, Mayor Daniel Tarkington said.

Already assembled at the sports complex is playground equipment consisting of tunnels, a slide and monkey bars.

“We should be wrapping it up by installing landscaping and pea gravel and expect to be finished by end of this week or first of next week,” Tarkington, said.
