    Congratulations to the C.A.T.S. Foundation’s Kate Paris who was named Citizen of the Year today by the McIntosh County Democrat for her work with the Happy Paws Animal Shelter. In 2014 the shelter spayed and neutered 2,916 animals and so far in 2015 have spayed and neutered 568.

    Nashville (January 4, 2012) — Carrie Underwood made wishes come true this holiday season for the schools in her hometown of Checotah, Oklahoma with donations amounting to $350,000 through her C.A.T.S. Foundation – Checotah Animal, Town, and School Foundation. Each of the four schools – Marshall Elementary, Checotah Intermediate School, Checotah Middle School, and Checotah High School – learned just in time for Christmas that they would receive the necessary funds from C.A.T.S. to fulfill various school needs. The donations will go towards items such as new computer labs for each school, plus playground equipment, physical fitness equipment, as well as new band uniforms, furniture, storage, instruments for their music programs, among other items.

  • Carrie Underwood’s C.A.T.S. Foundation & KaBOOM! Build New Playground for Checotah Children

    CHECOTAH, Okla. – (Oct. 14, 2011) – Country music superstar Carrie Underwood worked alongside hundreds of volunteers on Friday, where her C.A.T.S. Foundation – Checotah Animal, Town, and School Foundation – and national non-profit KaBOOM!, built a new playground in one day at Marshall Elementary School in Carrie’s hometown of Checotah, Oklahoma.

    Underwood and the other volunteers assembled the child-designed playground from scratch in less than eight hours with the help of KaBOOM! and more than 200 volunteers on Friday, Oct. 14. Volunteers gathered for a kickoff ceremony at 8:30 a.m. and completed the playground project in time for a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 2:30 p.m.
